What is white chocolate sauce?

White chocolate sauce is a rich sauce made with white chocolate and whole milk.

White chocolate has a more subtle flavor than regular chocolate, so it doesn’t coat your tongue and block out the other flavors on your palate.

Instead, white chocolate complements coffee’s taste with a silky texture that adds an extra dimension to your cup.

It’s made with white chocolate of choice and an equal part of milk. This ratio makes for a sweet but also rich-tasting chocolate sauce.

What ingredients are used to make this recipe?

To make this recipe at home, you’ll need just two components. Have a look below for the ingredients used:

  • Whole milk
  • White chocolate
All ingredients that are used to make the white chocolate sauce at home.

To ensure that you get the best tasting white chocolate sauce, ensure the ingredients are good quality.

As for the chocolate, you can use a white chocolate bar or white chocolate chips.

Some chocolate is sweeter than others, so if you have a favorite you know will taste great in this sauce, make sure to pick that one up.

I like to go with a chocolate bar most of the time, just because it’s cheaper. The only downside to a chocolate bar is that you must cut it into smaller pieces before getting into the recipe.

White chocolate chips are the easiest to use, as they are small and will also melt faster.

For this recipe, you’ll use whole milk. You can also use lower-fat milk if you have this at hand.

It’ll create a smooth chocolate sauce. If you want, you can use heavy cream instead of milk or use equal parts heavy cream and whole milk.

When using heavy cream in your chocolate sauce, you’ll make the sauce taste even creamier and richer.

The best way to store white chocolate sauce

Once you’ve made your chocolate sauce, you must store it correctly to enjoy it longer.

After making the sauce, it’s best to let it cool completely before storing it.

I like to use a Mason jar, a resealable container, or a flask with a pouring spout to store my chocolate sauce.

Tip: You can also use this mason jar to brew cold brew! Check out this recipe here.

Make sure that the chocolate sauce is covered and place it in the fridge. I always put it in the coldest spot in the refrigerator.

You can keep it well in the fridge for up to a week, but let’s be honest; it’ll probably be gone within that timeframe.

Hiii question 🙂 Can I use nonfat milk? Also, I noticed that as it cools, there’s a layer of oils/fat that separates and then hardens when in the ref….. love the taste, but this means there are bits that harden when i use it especially in iced coffee 😀 thanks!

      Hey Anne,

You can definitely use nonfat milk for this recipe!

As for your other question, you can get rid of the layer that forms on top of the white chocolate sauce by microwaving the sauce for just 30 seconds and stirring it afterward.
This will heat the sauce just for a bit so that the layer can melt again. You can then use it for your iced coffee, as it’s still cold enough.

You could also try adding a layer of plastic wrap on top of the chocolate sauce after making it, preventing the layer from forming.

I hope this helps. If not, please let me know, as I’d love to help you out some more!
