This gingerbread latte is based on the classic latte we all know and love but uses two additional components to make it extra special. You’ll need the following ingredients:
- Whole milk
- Espresso coffee
- Gingerbread syrup
- Whipped cream
Whole milk is used to give it the most amount of flavor, but you can also switch the whole milk for lower-fat milk, or substitute it for a dairy-free alternative.
The great thing about milk alternatives is their flavor. You can make this gingerbread latte taste a lot different when using your favorite milk alternatives.
I like to use soy milk and almond milk, which combines perfectly with the spicy gingerbread syrup.

There are a few ingredients needed to make the gingerbread syrup at home, but once you have this ready to go, you can whip up a few of these lattes in no time!

What is the best coffee to use?
Coffee is the most important part of any good latte. It’ll make the whole drink come together and not make it overly sweet and creamy from the milk.
It brings a robust flavor to the latte that carries the sweeter flavors of gingerbread syrup and whipped cream.
The best coffee to use for this recipe is an espresso. One espresso shot is enough for this recipe to make it sweet, but not too sweet.
You can also use a double espresso shot if you prefer a more espresso-forward latte.
Making espresso at home is best made with an espresso machine, but they can be quite expensive, which is why I’ve got some more great ways to make espresso coffee at home.
Although it’s not the same as espresso made with an espresso machine, the espresso-like coffee they produce comes really close in flavor and texture.

You can also use brewed coffee for this recipe if you prefer this. I recommend using a strong coffee as the basis, as the gingerbread latte might otherwise be overly sweet.

- 3/4 cup (0.18 l) of whole milk
- Espresso shot
- 2 tbsp (30 grams) of gingerbread syrup
- A serving of whipped cream
Collect all the ingredients needed for this recipe. Once you have it all ready to go, you can make this recipe within five minutes. Let's get started:
- Start brewing your espresso shot with your favorite coffee brewer, or use brewed coffee instead.
- While the espresso is brewing, steam the milk.
- Add the gingerbread syrup to a tall glass of choice.
- Pour the steamed and foamed milk into the glass.
- Leave the milk to settle for about 30 seconds, so you get those fantastic layers in your latte.
- Then, slowly pour your espresso into the glass.
- Finish your gingerbread latte with a serving of whipped cream. You can add as much or as little whipped cream to your drink. Optionally, finish with a fresh grating of nutmeg.
- Serve the latte with a long spoon or straw, so you and your guests can easily stir the gingerbread syrup through milk!

A regular latte already has a lot of calories, but because of the added whipped cream, and gingerbread syrup, it’ll be even higher. Have a look below for the full breakdown:
- The whole milk makes up for 110 calories.
- Adding whipped cream to your latte will add 51 calories.
- The gingerbread syrup has a total of 54 calories.
If you prefer a lower calorie gingerbread latte, you could leave out the whipped cream, and choose lower-fat milk instead.
