Starbucks Free Refill Checker
Not sure if you can get a free refill at Starbucks or if you’ll be asked to pay for a new drink?
I created this Starbucks Free Refill Checker to help you quickly get a clear answer in everyday language depending on your order and if you are still in the café at the same visit.
Just provide answers to the two questions below and the checker will inform you how Starbucks’ current refill rules are usually applied in practice:
What this Starbucks refill checker can help you with
This tool is a quick way to:
-
Verify whether your original drink (for example, brewed coffee, iced coffee, tea, cold brew, or a latte) makes you eligible for a refill.
-
Identify which beverages can be refilled at no additional cost (and the ones that can’t).
-
Understand why the barista might say yes or no based on Starbucks’ current refill rules.
Important note about this tool
This checker is based on my best understanding of Starbucks’ U.S. refill policy as of
January 27, 2025.
Nonetheless, there are instances where a few stores and baristas slightly differ in their interpretations of the rules, so always consider this as a helpful guide rather than an official decision.
If you’re ever unsure, it’s completely okay to ask your barista to confirm whether a refill is possible before you order.
