1. Choose coffee beans

Choose the coffee beans you prefer. You can use a light, medium or dark roast for this brewing technique.

2. Grind the coffee beans

Grind the coffee beans into a medium/ fine grind size. There should still be a bit of structure in them.

3. Rinse the filter

Rinse the coffee filter with boiling water. Throw the water out before moving onto the next step.

4. Add the ground coffee

Add your freshly ground coffee beans to the Chemex. Make a small hole in the middle for optimal extraction.

5. Bloom the coffee

Bloom the coffee by pouring 1/4 of the total water onto the ground coffee beans. Leave for 30 seconds before moving on.

6. Add more water

Add the remaining water to the Chemex. Slowly pour the water onto the coffee grounds.

7. Stir the coffee

Stir through the coffee just a bit, this will help knock the coffee grounds off the sides and make for better-tasting coffee.

8. Let the coffee brew

Let the coffee brew until no water is left. Throw the filter out and serve your freshly brewed Chemex coffee!
